What to do if you forget or lose your smartphone?
Discover quick solutions to access your Bold Smart Lock if you forget or lose your smartphone.
If you have lost your smartphone, left it behind, or it has run out of battery, do not worry. With the Bold Smart Lock, you can still get inside and manage your lock securely. Below the possibilities to unlock your door and regain access.
Unlocking your Bold Smart Lock without your smartphone
Even without the Bold app on your smartphone, there are several ways to unlock your door:

Use your backup PIN
You can unlock the Bold Smart Lock by entering your personal backup PIN directly on the lock. Make sure you have set up this PIN in advance and stored it somewhere safe to remember.- Entering the PIN: Stand near your Bold Smart Lock and turn the outer knob to input each digit of your PIN. Turn left for the first digit, right for the next, and continue alternating until you've entered the full code. You’ll hear two beeps, signaling the door has unlocked if the PIN is correct.

Unlock using another smartphone
Log in to your Bold account on a different smartphone with the Bold app installed. From there, you can unlock your door just as you normally would. -
Ask another user to open the door
If someone you trust also has access to the same Bold Smart Lock, they can unlock the door (remotely: when you have the Bold Connect) using their own smartphone and the Bold app.
Tip: It is a good idea to test your backup PIN and other unlock options in advance, so you are always ready in case of emergency.
Transferring Access to a New Device
If you can no longer use your smartphone, such as due to damage or loss, you can easily transfer access to a new device:
- Logging In on a New Device: Download the Bold app on your new phone or tablet and log in with your registered account via your Apple ID, Google account or with your email/phone number and password.
- Secure Automatic Log-Out: Once you log in on the new device, all digital keys are removed from your old device, maintaining security. Bold supports digital keys on only one device per user, so your previous phone will automatically log out.
By setting up your backup PIN and knowing your options, you will always have a way to unlock your Bold Smart Lock—no matter what happens to your smartphone. That is smart security, done right.
