How to use Auto Entry?
Auto Entry allows you to effortlessly unlock your Bold Smart Lock as you approach it. Each user must activate this feature individually in the app. This article explains how it works and how to set it up.
Auto Entry can automatically activate your lock as soon as you are within Bluetooth range of your Bold Smart Lock. The moment you enter an area of 200 meters around your lock from outside, a timer of 15 minutes is activated. Within this time, your lock will be automatically activated as soon as your phone detects the lock.
The radius of 200 meters around the location of the lock, the so-called geofence, helps the system recognize your proximity. This safety zone is determined by the GPS software of Apple and Android devices and, for safety reasons such as unwanted / unauthorised activations due to inaccurate location determination, is not adjustable.
Setting up Auto Entry
-
Stand close to your Bold Smart Lock.
-
Open the Bold-app on your phone and select your Bold Smart Lock.
-
Go to the settings screen.
-
Follow the steps to enable Auto Entry for your specific Bold Smart Lock. You can enable notifications to receive a pop-up message on your phone when you are within 200 meters of your Bold Smart Lock.
- Wait until Turned: enable this option if you want the lock to wait with activation until it detects turns on the outside knob. This can help if you need more time with unloading your bike or car for example.
-
Activate the lock via Bluetooth. This will save the location of the lock.
- Please note: auto entry works best with a lock 'Active Time' of 10+ seconds, to prevent deactivation before you reach the door.
Troubleshooting
For the most accurate and consistent performance of Auto Entry, it is important that your phone settings are optimally configured. Check our additional articles specifically tailored for Android and iOS devices to improve the Auto Entry experience:
Important note about privacy
The location of your Bold Smart Lock is stored locally in your phone and is not shared with Bold. This is why you must also reconfigure Auto Entry if you get a new phone. Bluetooth activations help determine the location. So if you move the lock to a different location, the location will be automatically updated after a Bluetooth activation.
We designed Auto Entry with privacy and safety in mind, so you stay in control at all times.
