Note: The inner knob is not build to withstand different weather types, so always place it indoors.
Tip: Keep the door open until installation is complete.
Step 1: Download the Bold App in the App Store or in the Google Play Store. You can find a detailed description of how to create an account in the Bold App here.
Step 2: Remove the battery tab to activate the battery connection.
Step 3: Use the small screw to tighten the engine through the back of the inner knob, this is required. *Read more information below.
Step 4: Press and hold the Bold Smart Cylinder’s inner knob for 5 long seconds. You will hear a sound and see a light signal. In the Bold App, click on the plus (+) sign at the top right and follow the steps in the app.
Step 5: Remove the outer knob using the hexagonal wrench provided.
Step 6: Remove the old cylinder by unscrewing the cylinder locking bolt.
Step 7: If necessary, use one of the adapters provided to extend the Bold Smart Cylinder on the outside. Please make sure the cylinder profile is as flush with the doorframe as possible.
Step 8: Insert the Bold Smart Cylinder into the cylinder opening with the large inner knob on the inside. To check if the lock works properly, gently turn the large inner knob until you feel it align with the mechanism.
Step 9: Place the small outer knob on the Bold Smart Cylinder and tighten it using the hexagonal wrench provided.
Step 10: Press the large inner knob to check whether the Bold Smart Cylinder works. If you want to check if the deadbolt works properly, turn the large inner knob.
*Smart Engine securing screw
In the small plastic bag that contains the extension pieces, you’ll find a tiny screw that you can use to secure the electronic smart engine in the inside knob.
It is recommended to use this screw when placing the Bold Smart Cylinder in public places such as gyms, hotels, and office buildings. The screw adds an additional level of security as it prohibits anyone from taking out the smart engine.
You should insert the tiny screw before placing the Bold Smart Cylinder in the door. There’s a small hole in the back of the inside knob to fit the screw. After the screw has been inserted, it’s impossible to take out the electronic smart engine without removing the entire Bold Smart Cylinder from the door.
