What does the Dutch SKG*** certification of the Bold smart locks entail?

This certification indicates that the lock has passed a series of stringent tests, including resistance to drilling, pulling, magnetic and electromagnetic manipulation, vibrations, as well as sustainability and climate tests. It also includes a digital security assessment.

An SKG*** certification means the lock can resist mechanical manipulation for at least five minutes. While the difference between this and an SKG** rating (which provides three minutes of resistance) might seem small, it is significant for security. Burglars aim to enter quickly to minimise the risk of getting caught, so every extra minute of resistance is crucial.

Additionally, SKG*** certified locks are equipped with cylinder pulling protection, which is vital since cylinder pulling is the most common burglary technique.   2. Visibility of the rotary knob: If the knob is visible through a window and the door is wooden, SKG recommends installing a certified anti-drilling or manipulation device.

It is also important to know that according to SKG guidelines, a system using a PIN code can achieve a maximum rating of SKG**. Therefore, this feature is disabled by default in the Bold app. When you choose to enable the PIN code, the certification of the lock is adjusted to SKG**.
