# What does the Dutch SKG\*\*\* certification of the Bold smart locks entail?
## Discover how the SKG\*\*\* certification ensures the highest level of security for your Bold smart locks.
Bold smart locks have been rigorously tested by SKG, achieving the highest possible classification: SKG\*\*\*. This certification indicates that the lock has passed a series of stringent tests, including resistance to drilling, pulling, magnetic and electromagnetic manipulation, vibrations, as well as sustainability and climate tests. It also includes a digital security assessment.
An SKG\*\*\* certification means the lock can resist mechanical manipulation for at least five minutes. While the difference between this and an SKG\*\* rating (which provides three minutes of resistance) might seem small, it is significant for security. Burglars aim to enter quickly to minimise the risk of getting caught, so every extra minute of resistance is crucial.
Additionally, SKG\*\*\* certified locks are equipped with cylinder pulling protection, which is vital since cylinder pulling is the most common burglary technique. In traditional locks, burglars often exploit the keyhole, but Bold smart locks are keyless, eliminating this vulnerability. When paired with SKG\*\*\* fittings that have cylinder pulling protection, Bold smart locks offer unparalleled security. This feature is particularly notable for a smart lock.
With its SKG\*\*\* certification, Bold smart locks provide the highest level of security, but it is important to note that this certification is only valid under specific conditions:
1. **Visibility of the lock:** If there is a window in the door, the glass should be at least P4A rated.
2. **Visibility of the rotary knob:** If the knob is visible through a window and the door is wooden, SKG recommends installing a certified anti-drilling or manipulation device.
It is also important to note that, according to SKG guidelines, a system that uses a PIN code can have a maximum rating of SKG\*\*. For this reason, the PIN feature is disabled by default in the Bold app. Enabling the PIN does not remove the lock’s SKG certification; it only changes the rating from SKG\*\*\* to SKG\*\*.
