How to get started?

You're sitting at home when the doorbell rings. It's the delivery guy. You open the package, wondering what’s inside. You’re happy to see it’s your very own Bold! But now what…?

This starter’s guide will walk you through some of your Bold’s functionalities. Please note: underlined terms contain hyperlinks to more elaborate articles on the subject matter.

If you haven’t done so already, please download the original Bold app by selecting your OS: Android or iOS.

Creating a Bold account

The first time you open the Bold app, you will create a Bold account. You require a unique phone number and email address to do so. Your account will be saved in a digital vault on our server. That means you can keep all your data if you get a new phone.

Please note: You can only be logged into your account on 1 device at a time.

During the process, you will receive a verification code by text and email (don't forget to check your spam folder). This code is valid for 1 hour. For safety reasons, you will have to wait 1 hour to try again after 3 failed attempts. 

Install your lock in the app

Start: Don't forget to remove the battery tab. The Bold is active when you hear a sound.

To register your Bold product open the Bold app on your phone and press the plus (+) sign in the top right corner to install your product. Follow the setup wizard in the Bold app to connect your Bold product to your Bold account step by step.

Adding users

When you open the Bold app, each of your Bold Smart Cylinders has a person icon to the left of the activation button. Here you can add, update or delete users.

Changing settings

In the Bold app, each Bold Smart Cylinder has a settings screen icon to the right of the activation button. Here you can adjust the settings of your Bold Smart Cylinder.

At the top, you'll see 'Device Information,' including the serial number and battery status. Don't worry about the battery status; if you've just installed your Bold, it will be visible 24 hours after removing the battery tab. You can also find the firmware version of your Bold device here.

You can toggle the activation of the lock on/off using the inner knob’s physical button, toggle the sound on/off when activating the lock, and select how long the Bold should remain activated. It’s also possible to enable auto-activation and set up the backup PIN. You can view the firmware version as well as the Bold Smart Lock’s owner (at the bottom). If you ever want to transfer ownership, you can do so through the settings.

Change profile settings

Do you want to change your account details? Click on the person icon on the bottom right and select 'My account'.If you have a new phone number or email address, you need to update your details in the Bold app. Both are required for logging in and retrieving your password. You can also change your password or the language settings of the Bold app through your profile settings.
