How to connect the Controller relay?
Want to connect an external system to the Bold Connect? Here is how to wire the optional controller port.
The Bold Connect includes an optional controller port that lets you connect an external system, such as a smart home hub or relay. To use this feature, you need to complete both the physical wiring and a quick setup in the Bold app.
Step 1: Remove the plastic tab
Locate the plastic tab on the bottom side of the Bold Connect.
Bend it outward until it snaps off, then dispose of it. This reveals the green plug.
Step 2: Remove the green plug
Pull the green plug out of the Bold Connect housing to access the wire terminals.
Step 3: Prepare and connect your wires
-
Strip exactly 5 mm of insulation off the ends of your wires.
-
Loosen the small flathead screws on top of the green plug.
-
Insert the stripped wire ends into the terminals.
-
Tighten the screws to secure the wires in place.
-
Make sure the wires are firmly held and not loose.
Step 4: Reinsert the green plug
Push the green plug back into the port on the Bold Connect.
Ensure the screws are facing the front of the housing.
Step 5: Enable the controller function in the Bold app
-
Open the Bold app.
-
Tap on the Connect device.
-
Go to Settings.
-
Enable the controller functionality toggle.
This activates the external control feature you just wired.
